Wiki Hazards

Hazards Guide — Viruses, Blackholes & Radiation

The map is trying to kill you too. Here is how each hazard works and what counters it.

Roaming viruses

Viruses in TUSG.io move — they roam the map, sometimes quickly, and contact splits your cell and costs you mass. The Virus Resistance ability refunds up to half of that loss. Played well they are also a weapon: routing a chase through a virus makes your pursuer pay a toll you already planned for.

Blackholes

Blackholes periodically eject mass into the area around them — a slow, renewable food source that makes their orbit prime farming real estate. The catch: every player on the map knows it, so blackhole camps are ambush magnets. Treat the free pellets as bait that happens to sometimes be free.

Radiation zones

Radiation ticks damage while you stand in it. Counters stack: the Radiation Resistance ability (up to -50%) plus a rad-resist core like Crystal Matrix (50% at max power) turn deadly ground into a private farming spot most players will not follow you into.

Should you avoid hazards or use them?

Use them. Every hazard suppresses traffic, and suppressed traffic means uncontested resources — the whole late-game farming meta is buying the resistances that let you live where others cannot.
